Conscience: by Derral Reynolds
In today’s world we are seeing everything turned upside down. We are in an age where a lie has become the truth and insanity is the rule of the day. This is evident on our streets, in our schools, in our governments and in our lives. We are being assaulted at all levels. We are being forced into living a lie…
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
2 Tim 4:3-4 (KJV)
“Conscience is the most sacred of all property.”
James Madison, 1792
Interesting statement from Madison, let’s examine this concept a little further.
What is a conscience?
This is your knowledge of what’s right and what’s wrong. Everyone has it. Some choose to ignore it. We see many today that know the truth. They know what’s right. Yet they think that if they force a lie in your face. Force what’s wrong on society and YOU! They have a delusion – that this will make what’s wrong become what’s right. Science and reality doesn’t work that way. Even if you don’t like the truth – it’s still the truth. Even if you don’t want something to be wrong – it’s still wrong. A fact will always remain a fact!
Why?
Because God is consistent yesterday, today and tomorrow. He is the supreme being and his law is “The Law” of all things. His law is the “Law of Nature!”
Where do we get our conscience from?
When Adam and Eve sinned and ate from the “Tree of Knowledge – of Good and Evil”, we learned that knowledge. It’s pretty clear and simple to understand. Adam and Eve’s Sin is where our conscience came from! Before sin everything was good. Sin added evil to our knowledge… No matter what lie they tell themselves – Everyone knows Good and Evil!
And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Gen 2:16-17 (KJV)
As Madison said, knowing the difference between good and evil is our most important asset – our conscience.
Sir William Blackstone laid out the foundation of western law in his famous “commentaries of the law of England” in 1765. His work had significant influence on the foundation of America’s founding documents and legal guidance.
We will cover this undeniable proof of God as the foundation of our law and nation in later discussions.
For today, let’s focus on the knowledge that is reflected in our conscience – God’s Law!
Blackstone said – God “has enabled human reason to discover” these laws “so far as they are necessary for the conduct of human actions.”
Jesse Root another significant influencer was in full agreement with Blackstone’s laws. Root stated in his reports on Connecticut cases. “The law of nature created by God could be known through reason because God had created all human beings with the capacity to know these laws.”
The discovery and knowledge of the Law of Nature – God’s Law – is through our conscience, God has given every single human understanding! You can choose to ignore the truth OR choose to embrace the truth!
This means we must oppose evil and promote good. In our family, with our friends, in our school and in our government. We cannot let darkness blot out the light!
You can make a difference every day; sometimes a big difference and other times a small difference. The very first step is standing for the Truth. Standing for Good. Don’t let being politically correct (PC) drown out your voice stopping the truth. Be God Correct (GC)!
Do not be fearful of the opposition.
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
Romans 8:31 (KJV)
Let’s listen to your conscience. Stand for what’s Right and Good!
Are you with me?
